LONDON’S FIRST COMMUNITY THEATRE BRANCH FOR THOSE 55+

MTP’s new branch of our organization - Silver Spotlight Theatre - is dedicated to producing musicals with those 55 years and older in our community!

“I think it’s a great idea,” says co-director of Silver Spotlight’s first production Rick Smith. “I know a lot of people have an interest in doing something in theatre, but the opportunities just aren’t there. The older people often feel like they’ve been put to pasture and this opportunity will be an important outlet for them. It helps keep people young and it’ll be a lot of fun for them.”

Silver Spotlight Theatre was created in 2022 with the assistance of generous funding from the Government of Ontario and spear-headed by Rick Smith and Art Fidler. In March 2023, Silver Spotlight presented its inaugural production of Rodgers & Hart's BABES IN ARMS on the Auburn Stage at the Grant Theatre, and productions have continued annual to support the tlent of the over 55 community here in London and the surrounding area. MTP has been at the forefront of musical theatre in London's community theatre scene since its founding in 1988. And now, with this new branch, Silver Spotlight Theatre, MTP is proud to open opportunities for more members of the community to experience the joys of musical theatre.
